Holiday Self-Care for Moms

I truly believe that the holiday season is the most magical time of the year, especially with kids. However with that magic can come chaos and stress, especially for Moms! Here are 5 ideas for Holiday Self-Care for Moms, because we can and should enjoy the holiday magic along with our families! Enjoy!

Learn to say No

I honestly think this is the most important tip I can share. You do not have to book holiday events for every single weekend of October through January. Take care of yourself and your family and say no when you need/want to.

Life is so crazy around the holidays, sometimes we forget to enjoy them. Leave yourselves time to relax and enjoy the season together as a family. If you aren’t comfortable saying no without a reason, make up another event and call it a day! Just be careful not to get caught.

Get that Fancy Coffee Mama

Tis the season!  Take a few extra minutes to swing by the drive-through and get that Pumpkin Spice Latte Or Peppermint Mocha Treat. A little energy boost never hurts anyone and you deserve it as a reward for being out and about in the holiday chaos!

Decorate as Much (or as Little) as You Want!

I love to decorate for the holidays, so I go all out, in the living room. Period. I do not decorate every room in our house and don’t feel like you have to either!

We have our holiday-drenched living area, which is where most guests will be anyways, and that’s pretty much it. It’s also much easier to decorate one room than to spread the decorations throughout the whole house. This translates to easy to take down quickly!

Wrap in Peace

I actually love wrapping gifts, especially for my kids. But I do not enjoy wrapping on the floor while children climb all over me and try to “help.” I love wrapping gifts with a glass of wine (alcohol-removed or regular), some Project Runway, or Bravo reality TV and turning it into relaxing “me time.”

Make Time to Enjoy the Magic

Take care not to get so wrapped up in making the holidays magical for everyone else that you lose sight of the joy yourself.  I did this for Little A’s first Christmas and while it was picture perfect and we did everything we were “supposed to” for her first Christmas, I was so exhausted that I don’t even remember most of it.

I hope this Holiday Self-Care for Moms post gave you a couple of ideas to make some “me time” this holiday season!

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Holiday Season and a Wonderful New Year!!

  3. I love how you wrap gifts! I think I will add a glass of wine to my wrapping time. I haven’t tried a lot of those flavored coffees. I see them everywhere, but have been a creature of habit and convince myself I don’t need them. Which flavor is your favorite? I think it’s time to treat myself! 😀
